about

Slavic Soul Party! has performed every Tuesday at Barbès for 16 years. Every Tuesday in this time of COVID19 we are releasing archival recordings that the band made over the years (with a stereo microphone on the piano) at Barbès. We hope that this document of the music, energy, and community of those nights nurtures you through this difficult time, and reminds you of the importance of live music. Please listen and enjoy –perhaps with a slivovica or an El Supremo in your hand – and if you can donate something to this project we will certainly appreciate the support!

Barbès is a wonderful arts hub for our community, and we encourage you to appreciate and support the venue and the people who make it what it is: barbesbrooklyn.com We miss the weekly music making, dancing, greeting old friends, making new friends, the surprising connections, the bizarre and wonderful conversations, the thrill of realizing that Robert Plant or Raif Hyseni or someone amazing you've never even heard of is in the audience, the late night chess games, the amazing music that Quince puts on at the end of the night... all the threads that weave together into a strong, colorful, and warming fabric of real community. We can't wait to make it happen again.
